The Tempest

from When Two Lovers Meet by Sarah McQuaid

/

about

I’ve slowed this down to a march tempo, which gives it quite a different feel from the way it’s usually played. We went for the kitchen sink on this one, but I think the tune can take it! I found the following tidbit in an old issue of Ceol magazine: “This reel with its peculiar rhythm John Kelly obtained from Patrick Ahern, an old fiddle player of Athea, Co. Limerick, and is typical of the music of that locality.”
